Study AbroadStudy in IsraelThrough the University of Connecticut Study Abroad Office, students may study at the following Israeli universities while remaining registered as full-time students at UConn: Tel Aviv University, Israel Academic Credit Students should discuss their plans to study in Israel with their academic advisors to determine if they can apply the courses they propose to take in Israel to their degree at home. Students will receive direct academic credits and grades on a University of Connecticut transcript, based on a review of each course at the close of the program. Archaeological Dig For over a decade UConn students have participated in a summer Archaeological Dig at Sepphoris, Israel, in conjunction with Duke University. Financial Aid Stipends are available to assist qualified students for study in Israel. Study in PragueAlong with the Study Abroad Office, the Center for Judaic Studies and Contemporary Jewish Life offers students the opportunity to study in Prague, Czech Republic, one of Central Europe’s most fascinating cities in terms of Jewish history, life, and culture. Students will study at Charles University, the most prestigious in the Czech Republic, where they will partake in a multi-disciplinary curriculum including courses in the history, culture, arts, and literature of Eastern-European Jewry. During their semester, students in the program will live together in residential housing in or near the heart of Prague and the Jewish Quarter. A wide variety of social activities, day-trips, and local-volunteer opportunities enable students to become acquainted with this beautiful historical city as well as its citizens. Overnight trips, such as the weekend trip to Budapest and week-long trip to Poland, allow students to fully appreciate the scope of Jewish history that is intrinsic to this region.
